Procedurally generated terrain
Procedurally generated terrain is one of the aspects of Procedural Generation that many games have made use of over the years. It allows semi-random maps to be created for every new game, allowing a player to experience an almost unlimited number of unique replays. Terrain is built according to a set of parameters that generate logical land masses and world features. The numbers can be tweaked to create maps that are almost all land mass or small islands separated by large oceans.
